Other things I am working on……

I didn’t want to put anything not relevant in the modular quilt tutorial so I will have 2 posts on some days. I chose more strips to go with diamonds and actually sewed a few but forgot to take a photo.
I also got the green border cut and sewed on and then about panicked when I opened up the black and white border piece and I didn’t think there was enough of it to cut the design lengthwise on the sides and crosswise on the top and bottom.  I had to piece the 2 crosswise ones but luckily I found the pattern match in a piece that was large enough.  I don’t know if this piece is done or if I should look for another green to make an additional border.  Or maybe a green and black border, or maybe it is done.

  1. Love how your diamonds quilt is coming along! Just beautiful!! I am not sure that I would add any more borders to the black and white quilt. I like it the way it is.

  2. Wonderful quilts. As for the black and white one, is it as big as you want?? If so then just add a green border for a little splash of more color. If you want it bigger than add more borders.

  3. Every time you post about one of your Kaffe quilts, I'm encouraged to pull out my stash of his fabrics and actually put my rotary blade on one and make a first cut. I keep putting it off. Which one first? I have 3 of his books and need to just sit down, pick one, and get going. I've admired every quilt you've made with his fabrics. You have a wonderful array of them and use them together so beautifully. I assume I'd be wise to start with strips, squares, and/or rectangles — and leave the diamonds till later. The B/W modular project is looking good. Cool! my verification word today is "cloth."

  4. I bought a Kaffe book, GLORIOUS PATCHWORK, years ago. Loved his beautiful quilts, lots of squares, color. I look through it often but have never attempted anything. I want to add more of his books to my collection of quilt books. It's fun to see you write about his fabric and quilts. Your blog inspires me.BTW Love your diamond quilt project. It's already beautiful.

  5. I am always smiling when I click unto your blog… diamonds are so pretty. And what a punch of color does to your black 'n white. Will be looking forward to end result on this one.J~MT
