The baby quilt………..

When I asked the parents to be what color quilt they wanted for the baby the dad said blue and gray.  Then he said cowboys.  So this was my idea of cowboys.

But this was his idea of cowboys – Dallas version…….blue and gray.  I alternated H blocks for Baby H with Cowboys fabrics.

Yesterday I met the baby for the first time – my great-grandson.  He is a little over 2 months old now.  I had forgotten how hard it was to hold a natural smile while the photographer waits for the baby to look pleasant, or hopefully smile.

He’s a little cutie and a good baby too.  I’ll have to wait awhile for him to tell me if he likes his quilt.

  1. He is adorable, Wanda! Gorgeous photo! I can see the family resemblance. The quilt looks great. No doubt he will be a Cowboys fan when he grows up.

  2. Cute! I would have done the cowboys like you. In fact I've been collecting cowboy and Texas fabric for a quilt for my youngest. He grew up in Texas but lives in Iowa now. Not a big football fan but he's a Bubba as we call rednecks.

  3. Left off telling you how sweet that little baby is. You just want to squeeze them and snuggle them all day! Gotta get your hugs in before they're off and running. 🙂

  4. What a great quilt for a Cowboys fan! Maybe by the time he's old enough to follow them Jerry Jones will be gone and they can be a winning team again. 🙂
Really cute baby! It must be really special to have great grandchildren!

  5. Wanda…

Loved seeing and reading about that little guy. And the quilt you did is wonderful…a big hit with all family members, I would guess! Great pic for a great grandma! 🙂

  6. Lovely picture of the baby but I was pleased to see what the lady who makes all those amazing quilts looks like! Just love your blog, the big print and plenty of Kaffe Fassett!

  7. OMG ~ what a little darlin'! He really is adorable. I just can't believe you are a great grandma. I know he will love and treasure his quilt, from his great grandma.

Thanks for sharing the photo with all of us.

  8. What do father's know? Cowboys, I too would have thought “cowboys and Indians”. I like your idea best for a baby. What a cute great grandson. I wonder if I will be around when I have one. lol Kids don't get married young anymore like I did. The baby looks like a great addition to the family. Congrats!!!!

  9. I definitely would've gone with the first kind of cowboys as well – and, as you know, I don't have good experiences with letting recipients have input on their quilts. You did a great job. Perfect compromise.
I'm not a “baby person” but I firmly believe that no baby is bad! And your Baby H certainly looks like a healthy and very presentable specimen! Is he your first great grandson? Hope you get to enjoy him as much as you want.

  10. Love the picture of you and your new love! It's very sweet.

Also like your version of a cowboy quilt best! Have always liked a western motif on fabric!

  11. Catching up here, Wanda. I love these pictures!!! What a thrill to have that sweet little one in your hands.

I also found your daughters mosaic work fabulous. As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!!!
